An Update on CDC’s Response to E-cigarette, or Vaping, product use Associated Lung Injury (EVALI)

Overview

During 2019, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) worked with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state health departments, and public health and clinical partners to investigate the multistate outbreak of E-cigarette, or Vaping, product use Associated Lung Injury (EVALI). On September 16, 2019, CDC activated the Emergency Operations Center. As of November 2019, national and state findings suggested e-cigarette, or vaping, products containing THC, particularly those obtained from informal sources (e.g. friends, family members, illicit dealers), were linked to most of the cases and played a major role in the outbreak. This webinar was broadcast on December 4 at 1 p.m. ET. Topics included the current status of the emergency response, recommendations, and resources for the public, healthcare providers, health departments, and other groups.
